Practice Mapping Echo Pieces
A working reference for adding practice links when the echoes go up on Substack. Each piece already carries its own light practice woven into the prose, so the card link works as an optional deepening rather than a requirement. A primary match is named for each piece, with alternatives underneath if you would rather spread the links so no card appears twice across the strand.
1. One body, four questions
Primary: Whole Body Listening (Season of Unravelling) The piece traces the body thread from this practice onward, so it sends readers to the exact place where the thread begins: feet, skin, breath, ears, gut. The most natural pairing in the whole strand.
Alternatives: - The Four Resonance Tests (Season of Resonance): the Body Test is the same listening arrived at the discernment end of the spiral, which would let the link mirror the piece's own movement from first question to last. - Tuning (Season of Resonance): the grounding walk and sound check offer body re-entry for readers who have never felt "in tune" at all.
2. What the creek already knew
Primary: Kinship Noticing Walk (Season of Unravelling) The card explicitly invites lingering at a creek edge or anywhere the land, water or sky might notice you back, which matches the piece's closing practice of meeting water on an ordinary route.
Alternatives: - Resonance Repair Kit (Season of Resonance): the Clearing pathway uses water as cleanser, a shower, a swim, a hand-rinse at the sink with attention, the most literal practice of water's offices in the whole deck. - Flotilla Orientation (Season of Drift): for readers drawn to water as carrier, the piece's second office, especially in collective settings.
3. A conversation four seasons long
Primary: Kinship Noticing Walk (Season of Unravelling) The direct companion: the card's closing gesture of I see you is the exact moment the piece names as the first reply in the conversation. Note this card is also the primary for the creek piece, so if you prefer one card per post, promote Roots Remember here.
Alternatives: - Roots Remember (Season of Seeding): a strong contender for primary, since its four steps (notice your ground, remember your lineage, trace your roots outward, offer back) quietly walk all four positions in the conversation the piece describes. - Flotilla Orientation or Social Drift Practices (Season of Drift): for the accompanying position specifically, and for readers in teams or groups.
4. Four silences
Primary: Resonance Repair Kit (Season of Resonance) The Pausing pathway is the deck's most direct silence practice: permission not to act, ten minutes with no agenda, sitting under a tree and simply not doing. It pairs with the fourth silence, the one that speaks, and gives readers a way to practise staying inside a silence rather than fleeing it.
Alternatives: - Whole Body Listening (Season of Unravelling): listening for the sound under the sound is the second silence, the one that listens, in practice form. Already the primary for the body piece, so use here only if you are comfortable repeating. - Check-in and Residue (Season of Resonance): the pause before a conversation and the noticing after it bookend speech with two small deliberate silences.
5. The size of a Tuesday
Primary: The One Thing (Season of Seeding) A near-perfect match. The card's instruction to do just one thing with full presence and without apology for its smallness is the piece's argument in practice form, and its framing of one small act restoring relationship carries the same refusal of scale.
Alternatives: - A Gentle Imperfect Offering (Season of Seeding): ten minutes, place the offering somewhere without explaining, scaling or fixing it, the Tuesday-sized act for anything creative. - Tuning (Season of Resonance): the Boundary Reset, removing one source of static, is the subtractive version of smallness named in the piece's Resonance section.
If you want one card per post with no repeats
Body → Whole Body Listening. Creek → Resonance Repair Kit (Clearing pathway). Kinship → Roots Remember. Silence → Check-in and Residue. Smallness → The One Thing. This spread keeps every link distinct and still lands each card inside its truest piece, at the small cost of the Kinship Noticing Walk missing out entirely. If that feels wrong, swap it in for kinship and let Roots Remember rest for a future echo.
