Season of Unravelling

Grief, kinship and the soil of emerging futures

The first season in The Art of Unravelling holds grief without rushing it toward growth. It does not ask you to feel better. It asks you to stay with what is ending, and to notice, without hurry, what might quietly want to root in the softened ground.

Fourteen posts carry the season in the order they were written: reflection, practice, kinship and compost library, moving month by month. Two more sit outside that order, offered below as company rather than as required reading.

In plain terms

What is the Season of Unravelling?
The first of four seasons in The Art of Unravelling, a slow practice of grief, kinship and emergence. It moves month by month through reflection, embodied practice, kinship stories and a compost library of books, music and wonder.
Do the fourteen posts need to be read in order?
No fixed order is required. The season is a spiral rather than a program, and the reading list below sets out the order the posts were written in, from the opening essay on grief as cultural work to the closing note on how to navigate the season.
Is this a program to fix grief?
No. The season offers no steps toward feeling better. It asks readers to witness collapse without turning away, and to notice what quietly wants to root in the softened ground once the old stories are let go.
